2006 Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast
Displaying a bit bigger palate feel than last years' release, the wine is all about tart red fruit character: bing cherry, wild strawberry and some cinnamon stick spice on the nose.
Palate follows with more red fruits, asian five spice, cranberry, cinnamon and citrus peel. Lots of complexity is well balanced by the use of 20% new oak, which led to fruit taking center stage and oak playing a supporting role.

2006 Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast, Ramondo Vineyard
From a vineyard in Sebastopol, just below the Russian Rivery Valley AVA comes this cool Pinot Noir. Given the location of the vineyard the wine straddles the line between warmer RRV and colder Sonoma Coast fruit profile.
A great follow up to its 2005 sibling, the nose shows plenty of red fruit, pomegranate and subtle grapefruit peel.
The palate then kicks in with red cherry, wild strawberry, red currant and asian five spice on a plush mid palate leading to a long, smooth finish defined by some spice and balanced by ripe, plush tannins.

2006 Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast, Sangiacomo Vineyard
Located in the path of Petaluma Gap fog and wind, Sangiacomo Vineyard produces Pinot with lots of complexity. Low yields are the norm in the vineyard usually ranging between a ton and a ton and a half per acre.
Notes of tart cherry, cranberry, cinnamon and citrus peel give away the vineyard's cold climate heritage.
Palate follows with very plush, almost velvety and silky impression, with notes of cherry, cranberry, red currant, grapefruit peel, christmas spice box and cloves. Good acidity and silky tannins make for a very elegant and a very well balanced wine with laser beam like delivery of flavors and finish.

2006 Syrah, Los Carneros, Las Madres Vineyard
Planted to equal parts of clones 174 and 300 and located in Los Carneros on the border of Sonoma and Napa counties, the climate allows for slow and even ripening leading to picking dates in late October.
Clone 300, rarely planted in USA, contributes to the unique signature of the vineyard, the black olive tapenade nose. Very Northern Rhone in profile, as intended, the wine starts off with a nose of dark fruits, smokiness, black olive tapenade and follows with blackberry, blueberry, smoky and spicy palate leading to a long, persistent finish.
